A warm welcome to all visitors to Heritage Mathematics & Computing Specialist School’s website.

Heritage is committed to providing the best quality and standard of education possible for its students.  We are regarded as a caring school that strives to see every one of our students achieve beyond expectation.  In a world where choice is a genuine reality our success in meeting individual needs is why most local parents choose us.

At Heritage we put young people first.  An increasingly more important focus of our work is making learning an enjoyable and successful experience for our students; by doing this we know that they will more readily engage.  We strive to equip our students with the skills, knowledge and understanding to be adaptable and successful as they move on from us into adulthood.  We aspire for them to be successful in employment, training or further and higher education; whatever is the most appropriate route for each of them on their learning journey.

We recognise choice and diversity are important for our students and we value the high quality contributions that our educational partners contribute to what we offer.  We have a number of established and developing links with colleges, schools and employers and they all support our learners.  These partnerships contribute notably to what already is a wide, varied, balanced and personalised curriculum.

Since becoming a specialist Mathematics and Computing school in 2006, the school has gone from strength to strength.  Our specialism has enabled us to invest in a range of technologies across the curriculum which has resulted in higher levels of student engagement, more creative and innovative teaching and greater levels of enjoyment for our students.  We are proud to be the local Centre of Excellence for Mathematics and Computing within our learning community of schools.  Our specialist subjects enable us to lead on the development of the necessary mathematical and computing skills essential for life.

More and more students are achieving higher standards.  In 2009 a record number of students achieved at least 5 A*-C higher grade passes at GCSE.  We are confident that these improvements will continue due to the commitment and dedication of our staff, the hard work of our students and the strong vision that we have for our school that emphasises achievement at the highest possible standard for everyone.

Our students deserve the best and we are excited at being a BSF (Building Schools for the Future) school and look forward to entering a new ‘State of the Art’ school in the spring of 2011.  The new school will play a major part in supporting our school community and we look forward to a sharing 21st Century learning environment that promises to enhance the opportunities, achievements and life-chances for all community learners.

We are confident that, with the increasing support of our community and ever-improving teaching, our students will get the best educational experience possible that will equip them as individuals to meet the challenging demands of the future in our rapidly changing world.
